Don't Cross Bridge Until You Come To It

Some people do not stress themselves about the challenges that the future might hold. Although, it is not practical to be caught unprepared for obstacles that may arise in the future, overthinking problems that aren't even there in the first place can prevent enjoying life to the fullest. So, they never drain their mental energy on these insignificant issues until it happens.

I think this is just an excuse to procrastinate. Some bridges, like problems, are really worth worrying about. But these types of people will cross the bridge later when they get to it. This type of mindset is very harmful in life and business. It is very important to plan ahead for potential problems and have contingency plans in place. You'll never know what will happen tomorrow.

So, it is best to have contingency plans. Even if we don't know the future, and even if we do plan, we do not know the direction of the wind. However, that doesn't negate the importance of having contingency plans. Beforehand, you need to make plans on how you are going to cross that bridge before you arrive. Think about likely scenarios for critical situations, make sure you are not only able to arrive at the bridge but also able to cross it safely.

It is not wise to invest too much time, money, and energy into those matters that aren't likely to create problems. But it is always smart to have your backup plans and contingency plans ready to go in case of an emergency. So, it is better to have alternative routes ready to go before they happen as much as possible.

In finance, businesses need to have six months of expenses available at any time to handle emergencies. This seems like a good rule of thumb for many businesses. It is good to have adequate savings to withstand the inevitable setbacks that can and will happen in life. But the secret to every business success is at least to have a break-even revenue if not that profitable yet.

In fact, there are other areas where you need to think through what is necessary and likely to happen in your particular situation. Appropriate planning in building contingency plans in advance can save you a lot of heartaches when you arrive at your own version of the bridge (problems, worries, obstacles, etc.). Then, you'll be able to cross the bridge and even enjoy the view because you are prepared for what to do in case something went wrong in your journey!

And because there are many problems in life's journey, you will have to cross many dangerous bridges. However, it won't help you to stress out about all of these bridges at once. But it is really better if you have contingency measures in place.
